Late. Kanji Karshan Halai Education and Charitable Trust was formed in the year 2008 by Dr. Jagdish Halai and Mrs. Kanta Halai for the education and social upliftment of the border district Kutch.

Since 2010, an educational campus named HJD Institute has been established along with the first SFI Engineering College of Kutch region at Kera village of Bhuj taluka.

Diploma, Degree, Master Degree Engineering Courses are offered respectively. Courses of English Medium School, Gujarati Medium School, BCom College, Sports College were also started in the institute.

So far thousands of students have studied from the institute and made their illustrious careers.

The Trust has approved for a CO-E lon Residential Sainik School under the PPP mode Sainik School initiative of the Central Government.

Sainik School will be useful for internal and external security of border district Kutch. Stations of Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Border Security Force, Coast Guard are located in Kutch district.

The units of NCC Army Wing and Naval Wing are located in Kutch district and the institute has affiliation of NCC Army Wing and Naval Wing.
